Vectron 1.1

A map editor for Armagetron Advanced, carried forward by four maintainers over more than fifteen years.

History

Vectron was originally written in 2008 by Carlo Veneziano, who re-wrote it in 2010 as a Flash-based map editor. In 2014 Tristan Whitcher re-wrote it in JavaScript, with contributions credited to David Dubois. The project then lay mostly dormant until 2017, when Glen Harpring ("Armanelgtron") began hosting it on their site, and from 2021 fixed long-standing annoyances and substantially improved the editor; that era of the project is preserved at gitlab.com/Armanelgtron/Vectron. It is currently maintained by zwazi, who integrated Neotron accounts and account-backed map repository access.

Credits

  • Carlo Veneziano — original author (2008) and Flash re-write (2010)
  • Tristan Whitcher — JavaScript re-write (2014)
  • David Dubois — contributions to the JavaScript editor
  • Glen Harpring ("Armanelgtron") — maintenance and improvements (2017–2021+)
  • zwazi — current maintainer: Neotron integration and the map repository

The .aamap.xml map format and its DTDs originate from Armagetron Advanced and the AATeam.
